Online Poll: Should Wyoming Raise Property Taxes For Education?

A proposal to be considered by Wyoming lawmakers during the current session would add three mill levies to all Wyoming property in each of the next three years to help pay for education in the state.

House Bill 68 would raise an estimated $99 million total over that period for education. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Eli Bebout told senators this week that while he couldn't give an exact number yet, it looks like Wyoming faces an education funding shortfall of somewhere between $350 million and $400 million for each of the next two bienniums (two year budget periods).
