A group that wants Weld County to leave Colorado and become part of Wyoming is working to get a proposal in front of Weld County voters that could be a step in that direction.

The measure would instruct Weld County Commissioners to explore the possibility of becoming part of the Cowboy State.

It appears that the two-state governors are on opposite sides of the issue. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has told KOA radio in Denver that he "loves' the idea, while Colorado Governor Jared Polis took to social media to say "hands off Weld County."

The idea would have to clear several hurdles before becoming a reality, including approval from both state legislatures and possibly the U.S. Congress. Would you like to see it happen?

We'll publish the results of our survey on Monday, Feb. 8.
