The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has announced that the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force has busted a drug trafficking organization. The investigation of the organization began in 2020. The drug trafficking organization was believed to be operating in the Northern Colorado region.

Operation "two birds, one stone" began in early 2021 targeting the drug trafficking organization. During the investigation, it was revealed that some of the drug trafficking organization members were also involved in thefts and property crimes.

On May 10 and May 19, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force and assistance from nearly two dozen partner agencies executed search warrants on seven locations in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Longmont.

Operation "Two Birds, One Stone" seized or recovered the following items"

  • More than 4,500 fentanyl pills
  • More than 12 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 22 firearms that included stolen, illegally modified or fully automatic
  • Three IEDs (improvised explosive devices)
  • More than $50,000 in verified stolen property
  • Thousands more in suspected stolen property
  • Heroin, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms
  • Narcotics distribution equipment
  • Credit card counterfeiting equipment

Several overdose deaths in Northern Colorado from fentanyl have occurred in 2021. It is believed that some deaths may be linked to this drug trafficking ring.

In total, more than 20 suspects were arrested during Operation "Two Birds, One Stone". More charges and arrests are being anticipated in the future stemming from the investigation. Since the investigation is currently ongoing no other information into the operation will be released at this time.
