The Casper College women's basketball played a great first half and then held off Blinn, Texas 72-61 in the NJCAA National Tournament at the Ford Center in Casper on Wednesday afternoon. The T-Birds were buoyed by a boisterous hometown crowd and won their first game at Nationals since 2011. Casper College had lost in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament in 2021, 2023, and 2023.

The T-Birds played with a ton of energy in the first half shooting 48% from the field, going 15-31. The Birds led 39-21 at halftime with Blinn struggling through an ice-cold first half. The Buccaneers shot a measly 17% from the floor in the opening half going 7-40 from the field and 3-21 from the 3-point line.

Blinn came to life in the 2nd half but Casper College answered every time they needed to. For the game, the T-Birds were 3-19 from the 3-point line and turned the ball over 25 times. Kelly Walsh High School grad Logann Alvar was terrific in this game with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Andi Schissler was in double figures with 13 with Anna Csenyi chipping in 9.

Casper College will play the women's junior college defending champions, that being Northwest Florida State on Thursday night at 4:30 at the Ford Center in Casper.
