Cheyenne Man Gets Decade Prison Sentence For Drug Trafficking
A 44-year-old Cheyenne man is facing 120 months in prison and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty earlier this year to drug trafficking and gun charges.
That's according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's office for Wyoming.
Investigation Of Moriyama Began In July of 2024
According to the release, Cheyenne Police launched an investigation in July of 2024 of Daniel Moriyama for allegedly selling methamphetamine and fentanyl from his home. The release says surveillance showed Moriyama getting a lot of visitors and vehicle traffic consistent with someone selling drugs. Cheyenne Police and the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force [NCDTF] conducted an investigation which found that Moriyama had drug connections in both Wyoming and Colorado.
The release goes on to say "On September 18, following the defendant’s trip to Colorado to acquire drugs, officers conducted a traffic stop and found 447 grams of methamphetamine and 194 fentanyl pills in his pickup truck. A subsequent search of his residence yielded handguns, additional methamphetamine, an AR-style rifle, and drug distribution materials."

Moriyama was indicted on Nov. 29, 2024, and pleaded guilty on Sept. 19, 2025. U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson imposed the sentence on Dec. 9 in Cheyenne.
