Missouri Sex Offender Arrested At Wyoming Playground
A 23-year-old Missouri man wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in that state was arrested at a playground near Rock Springs last week, according to Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell.
The sheriff says Cody Lynn Cotter, of Willow Springs, Missouri, was arrested at the Crossroads Park Playground west of Rock Springs after people who lived near the park reported seeing "suspicious persons" in the area.
Cotter told deputies he had taken a bus to Rock Springs that same day to look for work. According to the Missouri sex offender registry website, Cotter was charged with third-degree sexual misconduct in connection with a 2012 incident. The sheriff says there were no children at the playground when Cotter was arrested.
The sheriff says his office has contacted Missouri officials, and Cotter's return to that state to face charges is pending.
