Measure Aims to Secure $105M for Wyoming Governments

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A bill that would secure $105 million in state funding for Wyoming's local governments is making its way through the state Legislature.

Senate File 89 unanimously passed through the House Appropriations Committee last week and is awaiting floor action in the House.

Although $105 million is the standard amount generally allotted, local government leaders are worried this funding might be reduced because the state continues to collect below-average tax revenue due to low energy prices.

Wyoming's local governments have limited means of raising funds, which leave them largely dependent on appropriations from the state.
