Man Tries to Steal Cheyenne ATM Using Stolen Excavator [VIDEO]
Cheyenne police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man who tried to break into a gas station ATM using a stolen excavator.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to the Sinclair at 600 Vandehei Avenue around 2 a.m. on Aug. 4 for a burglar alarm.
"When they arrived they didn't see anybody on scene, but found an excavator that had smashed through the window of that building and knocked an ATM down," said Malatesta.
"We were able to get the video evidence (and) determined that the individual in the video had stolen a trailer, an excavator and a truck all from different locations in Cheyenne and then used that excavator to try to take the ATM," he added.
Malatesta says the man had a distinct black and white dog with him and took off after the alarm sounded.
Anyone who recognizes the man or his dog is asked to call Crime Stoppers Silent Witness at (307) 638-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
