Man Gets 50 to Life for Cheyenne Woman’s Murder
A transient who killed a 21-year-old woman in the basement of a Cheyenne restaurant last summer has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
Fifty-eight-year-old Emigdio O. Lara, Sr. was sentenced Friday in Laramie County District Court.
In August, Lara entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder in the death of Victoria Juarez, admitting that he hit her in the head with a pipe wrench and wrapped an electrical cord around her throat.
Juarez's body was found in the basement of Anong's restaurant, where Lara had been working and living, on June 26.
Police say the two were in a "dating relationship" at the time.
