CODY, Wyo. (AP) — A jury has convicted a man of killing his wife in northwest Wyoming.

The Cody Enterprise reports 77-year-old Dennis Klingbeil was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder in the Aug. 5, 2018, death of Donna Klingbeil at the couple's home. He will be sentenced to life in prison, Wyoming's minimum punishment for the charge.

Mike Blonigen, special deputy attorney for Park County, says Klingbeil made "a conscious decision to kill" his wife. Defense attorney Rives White argued not much is known about what happened the night of the slaying and noted Klingbeil didn't have an incentive or motive to kill his wife of 43 years.

Police have said Klingbeil and his wife had been arguing over the ownership of $3.6 million worth of Park County assets in a revocable trust before she was shot to death.
