LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming basketball player accused of aggravated assault and battery in a bar fight will be prosecuted in state court.

The Associated Press reported that a hearing looking at the evidence against Luke Martinez was waived in circuit court on Monday. The case was then bound over to the Second Judicial District Court.

Police say the starting guard kicked an unconscious man during a fight outside a bar on Dec. 30.

Between the fight and his suspension, Martinez accompanied the team for its games but didn't play because of a broken bone in his shooting hand suffered in the fight.

Martinez will appear in court next to enter a plea. The date hasn't been set yet.
