Looking for a Lucrative Career? Try Babysitting
Babysitting is pretty good work if you can get it.
Just how much can you make?
Online babysitter-booking service UrbanSitter reports the average babysitter makes $12.75 an hour.
In New York City, the job is even more lucrative, with the average Big Apple sitter pulling in a healthy $15.50 an hour.
After New York, sitters make the most in Los Angeles ($14) and San Francisco ($13.50.) St. Louis had the lowest priced babysitters of the nine cities UrbanSitter surveyed, but even they pulled in $9.50 an hour, which is still better than the federal minimum wage of $7.25.
According to UrbanSitter, most of these babysitting jobs take place between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. and the average parents hire 2.4 different sitters every three months.
