The City of Laramie Mosquito Control has scheduled a spraying of  Dibrom for rural areas near the city on Friday.

The application of the pesticide is slated for around 6:30 p.m., weather permitting. If the weather does not allow for the spraying, backup dates of Saturday through Monday have been scheduled.

That's according to a City of Laramie news release.

Spraying Follows Positive Tests For West Nile Virus

The release says the spraying is to target both nuisance and vector mosquitoes, including Culex tarsalis, which can carry the West Nile Virus. The release says recent tests of five pools of the Culex mosquitoes turned up two positive samples for the virus.
