Join Laramie As We Remember The 9/11 Tragedy Together
The City of Laramie says Laramie Firefighters will be hosting a ceremony in memory of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Thursday morning.
The following was posted on the City of Laramie Facebook page:
Laramie Firefighters posted about the event on their page:
"On 9/11/2025 Laramie Fire Department will hold a ceremony at the corner of Fourth Street and Ivinson Avenue at 9:00 a.m., immediately following the ringing of the church bells.
The Laramie Fire Department Honor Guard will present the colors, followed by remarks from Fire Chief Dan Johnson and Chaplain Tim Snowbarger.
We invite our community to join us as we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to stand together in unity and reflection."
The FBI says the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks "killed 2,976 people and injured thousands more. Today, many first responders are still dealing with adverse health effects from working in toxic conditions."
That was by far the largest number of deaths inflicted on U.S. soil in the history of the nation. The attacks also undermined the feeling of security from terrorism that many Americans felt prior to 9/11, and led to wide ranging attempts to improve security at airports and anywhere large numbers of people are gathered.
Those changes remain in effect to this day
