If a recent week-long Townsquare Media of Cheyenne online poll is any indication, the August 16 GOP Primary Election for Laramie County Sheriff could be a real cliffhanger.

Voting on our online poll ended this morning, and showed Captain Don Hollingshead of the Laramie County Sheriff's Office edging former Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak by four votes out of a total of 734 votes cast.

Here is the final tally:

Percent
Vote Count

A-Don Hollingshead

31.74%
233

C-Brian Kozak

31.20%
229

E-Jeff Barnes

18.80%
138

B-Boyd Wrede

15.94%
117

D-Jess Fresquez

2.32%
17
It's worth noting that Jeff Barnes as an independent candidate will not be on the primary election ballot and will advance to the November general election, where he has qualified for a place on the ballot.
Jess Fresquez, the lone Democrat in the race, likewise will advance to the general election as he is unopposed in the primary.
Online polls are not demographically weighted to match likely voters as scientific polls but are instead open to anyone who cares to vote.
However, each IP address is limited to voting one time in each poll.
