Laramie County District Court Judge Catherine Rogers has sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to having child pornography on his laptop to eight to 12 years in prison.

Stephan Michael Blickhan pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography in January.

In exchange for his plea, the state agreed to drop seven counts of possessing child pornography and a single count of creating/receiving child pornography.

Blickhan's attorney, Devon Petersen, asked the court for a short sentence that would give Blickhan time to complete sex offender treatment and parole out, but Rogers stuck with the plea agreement, which called for four to six year sentences on both counts to run consecutively.

Rogers also brought up the fact that Blickhan had a previous conviction in California for having a sexual relationship with a minor child.

Blickhan has 30 days to file an appeal in the case.
