If you haven't been to a good musical in awhile, this weekend might serve as a scratch to that itch. "Kiss Me, Kate" will premier at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse Saturday, May 3, 2014. This production is directed by Keith Neville, from Kent, England.

"Kiss Me, Kate" is a musical with music and lyrics by the late Cole Porter (1891-1961). The musical is a variation on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of The Shrew." However, the production showcases the conflict, on- and off-stage, between Fred Graham, the shows director, producer, and star, and his ex-wife and leading lady, Lilli Vanessi. There is a secondary romance which concerns Lois Lane, the actress who plays Bianca and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who likes to run with a team of gangsters.
