When you think of foods that are unique to Wyoming, or even invented in the state, you'll probably think of steak and leave it at that. Let's face it, the pioneers did not have much of a choice in cuisine when they first came out this way.

But the Cowboy State does have a few dishes that we can call our own.

Unique foods invented or popularized in Wyoming include Rock Springs-style chili meat (a savory ground beef dish), the cheesy "Cheesewheel" (often linked to Lander), and the savory stuffed meat dish known as the Turducken. Wyoming cuisine is also defined by local specialties like Rocky Mountain Oysters.

Key Foods and Regional Specialties.

Chili Meat: A unique Rock Springs specialty, distinct from traditional chili, often served with rice or inside a dish.

Rocky Mountain Oysters: A famous, traditional cowboy dish made from calf testicles, commonly served in Wyoming.

Chugwater Chili: Known as Wyoming's first "gourmet" chili mix, produced in Chugwater since 1986.

Common Wyoming Culinary Delights.

Bison Burgers & Elk Steaks: Commonly featured on local menus, highlighting Wyoming's game meat.

You might have noticed that none of our food out here is delicate. You'll need an iron stomach.
