Cheyenne East rebounded from their loss to Sheridan in the 4A football ranks with a solid 45-16 win over Cheyenne Central at Riske Field on Friday night. Each team found the end zone in the opening quarter of play with Drew Jackson getting in from 21 yards out for East while Central got as Lane Clement hooked up with Miles Porwall for 84 yards and a score to even the game at 7.

Central briefly had the lead in the 2nd quarter thanks to a field goal and East took control with a pair of touchdown runs from quarterback Cam Hayes. One went for 3 yards and the other 7. The Thunderbirds added a field goal in the 2nd quarter and led 23-10 at halftime.

East continued to put the pressure on in the 3rd quarter as Hayes tossed a 49-yard TD pass to Nolan Horton to bump the advantage to 31-10. David Hondel also caught a touchdown pass for East that went for 21 yards and Drew Jackson scored again from 3 yards out in the 4th quarter. The Tribe concluded the scoring with a 56-yard to the end zone from Mason Counter.

Cheyenne East is 6-1 and has a very good chance of playing at home in the opening round of the 4A playoffs and probably the 2nd round too. The T-Birds will host Cheyenne South on Friday. Central dropped to 3-4 and will have a tough home encounter with Campbell County this week.
