Marik Cummings from Cheyenne East Inks with Colorado Mesa

Marik Cummings of Cheyenne East is making a name for himself on the track circuit in the sprint events and has committed to Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction to continue his athletic journey.

In the 2023 indoor track season. Cummings took 1st in the 55-meter dash at the Gillette meet a couple of weeks ago with a time of 6.55. He placed 2nd in that event last week in Casper with a clocking of 6.72. At the 2022 state indoor meet, Cummings was 3rd in the 55, 8th in the 200, his 4x200 relay team placed 3rd and the 4x400 relay was 9th.

On the outdoor track circuit, Cummings was 3rd at the 4A state championships in the 100-meter dash in 10.93 and also earned the bronze medal in the 200 with a time of 22.15. He was also on the Cheyenne East 4x100 relay team that took 2nd at the state meet in May.

Colorado Mesa is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
