LARAMIE -- Twenty-six new additions to the Wyoming football program took the field Tuesday inside War Memorial Stadium for their first official practice.

What stood out to head coach Jay Sawvel on Day 1?

The vibe.

"I was really, really looking forward to this practice today, just because of the way that this team has went about their business from the time that we started up in January to where we are right now," he said, following the two-hour workout. "I think that they were anxious and excited to practice today, too."

Fourteen more freshmen will make their way to campus in June, including Sheridan's Beck Haswell and Cheyenne product Jackson Garrett. The latter is a 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive lineman. Haswell, who joins his older brother, Alex Haswell, on the roster, will suit up at defensive end.

Six true freshmen -- Mason Wright, Jayden Williams, Therman "Boogie" Williams, Grant Lott, Kendall Griffin and Tanielu Maafala-Barbasa -- are early enrollees and are taking part in spring ball.

"This has been such a low-maintenance football team," Sawvel added. "So it wasn't like I had any question as to how they were going to perform or come out and practice."

The days of scotch tape across the front of the helmet, donning a last name in black permanent marker are long gone. Apparently so is keeping the same jersey number.

Look away, Craig Bohl, there's a No. 0 on the roster.
