The Buffalo Bills are preparing for the final preseason game of 2023 this Saturday.

Buffalo will travel to Chicago to play the Bears on Saturday afternoon. We still do not know how much, if at all, the starters will play in that game. Josh Allen might not see action until the week 1 regular season opener against the New York Jets on September 11th.

The second preseason game had some good moments but most of it was bad. The first team offense and defense looked shaky and rusty. It was not a good showing all around.

The penalties were a gigantic problem in the preseason game against the Steelers as well. The Bills committed 12 penalties in the first half, which is more than half of the average for an entire game.

Head coach Sean McDermott was not happy at all about the penalties and said that he would have to come up with something new, since nothing has worked for stopping the penalties in practice.

McDermott decided on sprints.

He had any Bills player who committed a penalty in Tuesday's practice run laps. On Saturday, he had players pulled out of the game for those who committed penalties.

As talented a roster as the Bills have, penalties can destroy a team's chances at winning games single-handedly. The Bills cannot afford to have efforts like they had against the Steelers. It was a preseason game, so the level of concern should not be as large as a regular season game, but it at least shows us that there are still some things to work on.
