Gov. Mead Vetoes Unemployment Insurance Worker’s Misconduct Bill
Governor Matt Mead vetoed the Unemployment Insurance-Worker's Misconduct bill Thursday. Dan Neal with the Equality State Policy Center says the bill was originated in order to deny workers unemployment benefits if they were fired for willful misconduct but Neal says the bill ended up being a bill that meant workers could be fired and denied benefits for just about anything.Neal says the language changes in the final bill also raised questions about a 1986 Wyoming Supreme Court decision on worker misconduct and unemployment benefits. The Wyoming State AFL-CIO also raised concerns about the bill and had asked for the bill to be vetoed. Neal says he was very pleased with the governor's veto of the bill.
