As some may already know, the Holiday Inn in Cheyenne, Wyoming, just south of I-80 has been bought out by another company. The new owners have stated that it will be transformed into a Radisson Hotel in the near future.

The new owner's have also advised that they will dump multi-millions of dollars into the building to bring it up to speed in 2015. But will that be enough?

According to local residents, that have lived in Cheyenne for decades, the Holiday Inn used to be a pretty happening place. Many youngsters used to hang out and dance at Christie's, when they wanted to get their disco on and the spread was laid out if you wanted to hold holiday parties, or weddings there.

Over the years, when I have gone there for events and meetings, the place just seemed very uninspiring to me. I even filled in as a security guard back in 2005 and it wasn't all that great then.

In business, we are told that it is "location, location, location" and one must wonder if it is the location or the lack of events that caused the Holiday Inn to fail? Many times when a visionary passes away or sells a company, the business has a tendency to fade as well.

Kemmons Wilson, the founder of the Holiday Inn back in the 1950s, submitted the name of the hotel as a joke after watching Holiday Inn starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. The name stuck and Wilson was in business. He started it as he was discouraged by the lack of service when he took his family on a trip to D.C.

It became one of the biggest chains in the nation. In the 1980s it started a downtrend and, after many different names and brands, has finally seen its demise.

I hope for the best as the Radisson Hotel chains attempt to transform the old inn into a lodging superstar. We shall see what will happen in the near future.
