A man who was convicted of sex crimes in 2006 in Cheyenne is facing charges in Rock Springs for failing to comply with sex offender reporting requirements, according to a release from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

Troy Watkins, who is now 48, pled guilty in 2006  in Cheyenne to immoral or indecent liberties with a minor.

He was arrested Thursday in Rock Springs for failure to report a change of employment.

Under Wyoming law sex offenders must register with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. They have to report a wide range of information, including their vehicle information, address, and where they work. Sheriff's Department spokesman Dick Blust says Watkins didn't report that he had changed jobs.

Watkins is facing two counts of sex offender failure to report change of employment.

The charges are felonies carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $1000 fine. Watkins is being held in the Sweetwater County jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.
