The body of a 44-year-old Denver man was recovered from an Albany County reservoir last week.

Rocky Federico had been fishing on Wheatland Reservoir No. 3 when a storm rolled through the area on Aug. 19. His body was recovered on Friday, according to a statement from the Albany County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies initially responded to the reservoir after Federico, who had been fishing on a float tube around sundown when the storm came through, was not located.

The next six days saw a large-scale search for Federico by the Albany County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team, Wyoming Air National Guard, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Sublette County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, and members of Federico's family and friends.

Over the first few days of the search, a number of items belonging to Federico were found along the shoreline. Evidence indicated that Federico had been blown across the lake while on his float tube, and he apparently tried to walk or swim across a shallow portion of the lake.

His body was recovered at about 7 a.m. Friday after deputies found it floating roughly 100 yards from shore.

Undersheriff Josh DeBree reminds people to always be prepared for inclement weather and to have a personal flotation device at all times while on the water.
