Wyoming Motorcyclists Dead After Pickup Hits Them Head-On
The first fatal crash happened around 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at milepost 54 on Wyoming 450 near Wright.

According to a fatality crash summary, 68-year-old Steve Layman and 74-year-old Ricky Lynch, both of Wyoming, were riding eastbound in tandem when an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado flatbed pickup crossed the centerline and hit them head-on.
Layman and Lynch were wearing helmets, but, sadly, didn't survive their injuries. The pickup driver was not injured in the crash.
The summary lists driver inattention and driver fatigue/asleep as possible contributing factors.
2 Dead After Motorcycle Goes Airborne During High-Speed Pursuit
The second fatal crash happened around 8:02 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at milepost 69.2 on U.S. 14/16 near Gillette.
According to a fatality crash summary, a motorcycle was being pursued by law enforcement at a high rate of speed when the driver, 43-year-old Wyoming resident Jonathon Townsend, failed to navigate a left-hand turn.
"The motorcycle exited the road to the right, went airborne, and traveled down the barrow ditch before coming to an uncontrolled stop," the summary reads.
Sadly, Townsend, who was wearing a helmet, and his passenger, 44-year-old Nevada resident Amber Cisneros, who was not wearing a helmet, didn't survive their injuries.
The summary lists speed as a possible contributing factor.
This brings the total number of motorcyclists killed on Wyoming's highways this year to six.
