Facebook Post Leads To Wyoming Credit Card Theft Bust
A Facebook post that generated over 50,000 views was instrumental in helping solve a Sweetwater County credit card theft case, according to Sheriff Mike Lowell.
The sheriff says someone left behind a wallet and credit cards at Little America in Sweetwater County last year. One of the cards was stolen and used later. Sheriff's Office investigators say video surveillance from Little America identified a pair of suspects. Photos of the pair were posted in mainstream media and on social media. Sheriff Lowell says the Sheriff's Office Facebook page generated over 50,000 views, and tipsters started calling in.
Investigators were able to identify one of the suspects as 42-year-old Sheriden Longhurst of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Longhurst was tracked down to Cokeville, Wyoming, and arrested.
He is currently being held in the Sweetwater County jail on charges of theft and unlawful use of a credit card.
