In the wake of a fire Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of Bade Road, Laramie County Fire District Two spokesman Lew Simpson is reminding people of the high fire danger during the current spell of warm, windy weather. The Bade Road fire started after the resident had conducted a controlled burn the day before. He thought the fire was out, but it flared up again Friday while the man was not home. The blaze destroyed a garage and a workshop, although no injuries were caused by the fire. Simpson says it's important to make sure a fire is completely out by dousing with water, spreading the ashes, and then dousing it again. He says at that point if you can touch the ashes without being burned, it's probably out. He also advises against doing any kind of controlled burn under very windy conditions.
