District 2 Crew Helping Fight Fern Lake Fire

Laramie County Fire District #2 has sent a front line fire engine, a support vehicle and a five member crew to help fight the Fern Lake Fire near Estes Park, Colorado.

District 2 spokesman Lew Simpson says the crew left earlier this week and is expected to deploy for up to two weeks. Simpson says if the fire is still burning at the end of that time a fresh crew from the district will replace them. Simpson also thanked local employers who allowed the volunteers from the district to leave their jobs to help fight the fire. He says the local firefighters are joining more than 250 firefighters who were already battling the blaze.
