CRMC to Hold Bra Auction for Breast Cancer Awareness Month [VIDEO]

Some of the wildest, sexiest bras of the season will be on display at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Thursday afternoon.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to draw attention to the disease, staff at CRMC decided to have a bra decorating contest and auction.

"We put it out to just hospital employees to make decorated bras and it's kind of built from there. We've had patients bring them in and ladies from our PACE Program made like 16 bras," said Tammy Thiede, Oncology Service Line Director at CRMC. "We're very tickled with the response. We had 34 bras turned in and they're just spectacular."

Thiede says the hospital plans to auction off the bras between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. in Auditorium A at the hospital.

"There's a bra there that I know, from talking to the people that turned it in, they put $175 worth of supplies on the bra. It's got NFL charms for each one of the teams," said Thiede. "So we just want to encourage people to come on in and take a look at them and spend a few pennies to help us make money for our patients."

The proceeds from the auction will be used to purchase gas cards for cancer patients.

"We found that transportation costs are the biggest barrier to care here in Wyoming," said Thiede. "We have a lot of patients coming from rural areas and the gas costs can be prohibitive for them. So we're trying to raise some funds to make sure that all our patients are able to get that access to care."
