Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and local emergency responders held an emergency preparedness drill Wednesday morning at the CRMC east campus. Hospital spokesman James Watson says the drill was loosely based on the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings earlier this year and involved a gunman opening fire in the east campus hospital building. Agencies involved in the drill included the Cheyenne Police Department, Cheyenne Fire Department, Laramie County Sheriff's Department and the SWAT team. Watson says the objective of such drills is to practice reacting to a realistic emergency scenario and finding out what problems might be encountered and how they can be dealt with.
