Federal Fugitive Arrested After Standoff in Pine Bluffs
A 39-year-old Grover, Colorado man wanted for federal probation violation is in custody following a standoff in Pine Bluffs.
According to a booking sheet, on Thursday, Jan. 16, Pine Bluffs Police Chief Austin Smith received a call from the United States Marshals Service Task Force about a wanted fugitive, Zachery B. Huenerkopf, in the area.

The Plan
Smith says multiple task force officers along with his men arrived at the police department, where a plan was put into place about how to peacefully arrest Huenerkopf.
He says task force officers then went to the RV park on Butler Avenue, where Huenerkopf was staying in a camper.
"Out of (an) abundance of caution, we quickly got surrounding occupied campers to safety," Smith in a post on the department's Facebook page said.
The Arrest
Smith says after a 15-minute standoff where sirens, loudspeaker, and a flash bang were used, Huenerkopf was successfully taken into custody.
Smith then took Huenerkopf to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked without incident.
"I would like to thank the public for their patience in exiting the area quickly and safely," said Smith. "Thank you to Laramie County Fire District #5, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming for being on standby and at the ready!"
