Cheyenne Cop Runs Down Wanted Sex Offender

A 29-year-old Cheyenne transient being sought on a felony warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court for failure to register as a sex offender is now behind bars.

According to a booking sheet, a police officer was patrolling near Martin Luther King Jr. Park at about 5:12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, when he spotted Jesse James Flores, who he knew to have a warrant, at the corner of West 19th Street and Ames Avenue.

The officer says when he drove by, Flores turned his head away to prevent him from seeing his face.

The officer then drove around the block and Flores reportedly began walking away and then took off running west, ignoring the officer's command to stop.

"I yelled at Flores to stop and he kept running."

The officer was able to chase Flores down in the 1100 block of West 19th Street and he was taken into custody on his warrant and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.

The warrant was signed by Judge Antoinette Williams on March 7, 2024.

Due to his uncooperativeness, Flores has yet to make his initial appearance in Circuit Court.

Flores had been on the Laramie County Sheriff's Office's "Most Wanted" list but was removed on April 18, exactly one month after being added.

"He was removed to make room for others and refresh the list," Public Information Officer Brandon Warner told KGAB Radio.
