A 39-year-old Edgewater, Colorado man is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop in southwest Cheyenne.

According to a booking sheet, Nicholas Elton Terry was headed north on Interstate 25 around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, when a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper sitting in the median near the Port of Entry (milepost 6) just south of Cheyenne reportedly clocked him doing 81 mph in a 75-mph zone.

Traffic Stop for Speeding Leads to Drug Arrest

The trooper entered the northbound lanes and caught up with Terry near milepost 7, but when they flipped their lights on, Terry reportedly continued to drive north on I-25.

Terry then reportedly exited at College Drive (Exit 7), failed to stop at the red light, drove east on College Drive, merged right over the solid white turning lane, and failed to signal while turning into Love's Travel Stop.

The trooper says Terry was unable to provide any documentation for himself or his car, and while he was searching for his documents, he appeared to be extremely nervous, as witnessed by his hands and forearms visibly shaking.

During the traffic stop, Trooper Dellos deployed his K-9 partner, Reno, around the exterior of Terry's car, and she alerted on the car.

UPDATE:

Terry made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon on four counts -- felony manufacture or delivery, felony possession of a controlled narcotic substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor speeding.

His bond was set at $20,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 8 at 10:30 a.m.
