Colorado Has Made More Than $1 Billion On Legal Pot
Is it 4:20 yet?
A report just released by the Colorado Department of Revenue says the state of Colorado has now collected more than $1 billion on legal marijuana since adult-use sales began in 2014.
That's...a lot of million.
That marijuana money goes to a lot of different places in the Colorado government. According to the report, "The Colorado Department of Human Services uses marijuana revenue funds to support community behavioral health programs including mental health services for juveniles and adults, crisis services, criminal justice diversion, the Circle Program, substance use disorder and detoxification services."
Funds from the marijuana industry also fund several Colorado Department of Education programs as well as youth prevention efforts and protecting public health and safety. Sounds like Colorado's got its eyes on the prize.
