A 59-year-old Greeley man is facing felony animal abuse charges after a camera allegedly recorded him dumping puppies on a rural Weld County Road.

That's according to a post on the Weld County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. According to the post, the Weld County Sheriff's Office Strike Team on July 11 obtained trail camera footage of a man dumping two puppies without food, shelter, or water on a rural road east of Miliken.

Sheriff's deputies say the temperatures on July 11 when the puppies were dumped soared to 95 degrees and that one fo the dogs was almost run over by a delivery vehicle. A good samaritan rescued the dogs at around 6 p.m.

Investigators identified Brent Moss through the license plates on his black Dodge Ram pickup. He allegedly has admitted to dumping the puppies, and agreed that they would have died had not someone saved them.  In addition to animal abuse, Moss also faces misdemeanor littering charges.

Moss is currently free on a $2,000 bond.
