Cheyenne's 2024 mayoral race will be a rematch of the two candidates who made the General Election ballot 4 years ago.

Collins, Coppinger Far Outpace Other Candidates

In Tuesday's Primary Election incumbent Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins garnered over half of the vote with 7 of 7 voting centers reporting as well as the early votes. Collins racked up 6,286 votes, far  outdistanced the competition. His opponent in the 2024 General Election, Rick Coppinger was well ahead of the other four candidates in the race with over 2, 787 votes. The other four candidates, all of whom were lesser known to most voters, trailed far behind. The top two finishers advance to the general election. Wyoming mayoral and city council elections are non-partisan, so instead of  being nominated by a political party, the top two candidates advance to the November 5 General Election.

In 2020 Collins, a former city council member and Cheyenne businessman trounced Coppinger by a margin of 18,070 votes to 9,002. Percentage wise that was roughly 66 percent of the vote to 34 percent.

Tuesday's primary election results are unoffical until being certified.
