Supporters of Cheyenne's City Drug were enraged on Wednesday afternoon when the State Pharmacy board refused to take public comment on a suspension of the pharmacy's license.

The board last week handed down a suspension of the drugstore's pharmacy license for allegedly violating a board order issued in March.  According to the minutes of the March meeting, City Drug was ordered to stop compounding semaglutide pending an investigation.

The order was issued because City Drug allegedly compounded the drug without the required sterile equipment.

According to paperwork in the case, City Drug allegedly violated the order by compounding a prescription for South Street Pharmacy in Wheatland earlier this month The board suspended City Drug's resident pharmacy license on Sept. 12, with the suspension to take effect on Oct. 10. That suspension is not permanent, but would remain in effect until a case hearing can resolve the matter.

At a pharmacy board meeting on Wednesday, Board President Brenda Upton told a standing room only crowd that pending a case hearing on the issue, it would be inappropriate to take public comment. That didn't go over well with crowd members who said they had been told they would be allowed to comment.

When the board returned after a break, Upton gaveled the meeting back into session. But a City Drug supporter who had been addressing the crowd kept speaking. Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers forcibly removed the woman from the meeting.

The  crowd was not happy..

But supporters of the pharmacy at Wednesday's meeting told Townsquare Media that pharmacy owner Kelsey James was not at fault and has done everything requested of her by the pharmacy board.

We spoke with the woman who addressed the crowd in meeting room five at the state Capitol Building..

The board says a case hearing will be held on the suspension, but has not publicly named a time and place for the hearing,
