Cheyenne Woman Denies Smuggling Meth Into Jail
A 32-year-old Cheyenne woman has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging she smuggled over 40 grams of methamphetamine into the Laramie County Jail.
Santana Mata was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and taking a controlled substance into a penal institution last month, after deputies performing a strip search reportedly found a baggie containing 40.1 grams of meth hidden inside her vagina.
Mata pleaded not guilty to the charges during her arraignment yesterday (Monday) in Laramie County District Court.
Mata's trial is tentatively scheduled for June. She's facing up to ten years in prison if convicted on both counts.
