The Cheyenne VA is partnering with Wyoming Equality to recognize LGBTQ veterans, and will host a Pride in America event this Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.

The public is invited to bring their gardening gloves and pruning sheers to help beautify the rose garden that encompasses the VA's Circle of Flags.

"This is about building bridges and letting our veterans know that they are not alone,” said VA Director Paul Roberts.

"Regardless of a person's religious belief, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status, the Cheyenne VA will always be there to take care of our veterans."

Roberts says he was honored to partner with Wyoming Equality on this initiative.

"This is really about preventing veteran suicide,” said Roberts.  "Way too many veterans are taking their own life, and we all need to come together to reduce veteran suicide."

"Too often lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and two-spirit veterans are left behind, and their service goes uncelebrated," said Wyoming Equality Executive Director Sara Burlingame.

"Wyoming Equality is proud to partner with the VA in their commitment to serve all who served," she added.
