Rooted In Cheyenne will be planting over 100 trees free trees as part of it's 18th neighborhood tree planting event on Saturday, Sept. 20, according to a news release.

The release says the event is funded by Microsoft. Rooted in Cheyenne board members, volunteers and city staff will be planting the trees.. Among the trees being planted will be 31 free trees in select neighborhoods, that, in the words of the release "desperately need tree canopy."

Motorists are being asked to watch out for tree planting crews on Saturday and be cautious of folks who may be in the right-of-way.

Rooted in Cheyenne is a non-profit organization that has planted over 1,800 street trees since 2017.

In the words of the release:

"Rooted in Cheyenne is dedicated to improving Cheyenne’s tree canopy and fostering a program for volunteers and sponsors to make a positive impact in their community.

Rooted in Cheyenne is supported through generous sponsorships from local businesses and organizations. This year’s platinum sponsors are HF Sinclair, the Laramie County Conservation District, Microsoft, the Wyoming Community Foundation, and the Wyoming State Forestry Division. The program provides homeowners with low-cost trees to be planted in or adjacent to the public right-of-way. Trees cost $50 and homeowners are allowed two trees per planting season."
