Cheyenne Rock, Paper, Scissors Champ Shoots For Fame And Glory
The Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns won't be the only talented athletes on the field at Mile High next Saturday. Brad Grady will also be there representing Cheyenne in the Bud Light Rocky Mountain Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament.
Last month, Grady outlasted 23 other local finalists to win a spot in the tournament, where he will compete against other RPS champions from Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Grady was one of 500 competitors in this year's regional contest, which was held at 24 bars and restaurants in Cheyenne, Guernsey, and Torrington.
Grady credits his Rock, Paper, Scissors skills to a top-secret strategy and his job with the State of Wyoming.
"I type all day at work," he joked. "It definitely gives me an advantage."
Grady's weekend kicks off next Friday night at a VIP Party with the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. Then on Saturday afternoon, he will square off against other contestants at the Bud Light Tailgate Party. If Grady advances to the final round, he will compete for the title on the field before kickoff.
Last year's southeast Wyoming representative nearly made it the Championship, according to Orrison Distributing Sales Manager Mike Colgan.
"It came down to a guy from Cheyenne and a Colorado guy in the semifinals. We were nervous because our winner was a Raiders fan and we were worried he might get booed off the field." Colgan recalled. "Luckily, we have a Broncos fan this year".
Win or lose, the event will be an epic experience for Grady, who describes himself as a "die-hard Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and Wyoming Cowboys supporter".
