The Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has put out an updated snow removal guide.

MPO Director Tom Mason says the guide gives residents a clear vision of what to expect when it snows, which streets have the highest priority when it comes to plowing and what agency hits what street.

"It identifies the main streets in the urban area and who actually is responsible for which of those streets and what their priorities are for taking care of the particular streets," said Mason.

Mason says it's impossible for the city to take care of every local street when it snows.

"They're constantly taking care of the arterials and collectors, keeping them open for the fire trucks and police department," said Mason. "There's hundreds of miles of streets to take care of, so there has to be a set priority."

Mason says the guide features a lot of great educational material as well.

"It also has a small section about sidewalks, reminding everybody that the sidewalk next to their private property is their responsibility to take care of," said Mason.

Copies of the brochure can be picked up at the City of Cheyenne Municipal Building, the Laramie County Courthouse and the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
