The Cheyenne City Council is considering an ordinance that would make "Cheyenne Anthem" the city's official song.

The tune, which speaks directly to Cheyenne's rich history, was written by Annie and Amy Smith, Todd Dereemer and Ty Warner to commemorate the city's sesquicentennial and debuted at the Depot Plaza on Aug. 8, 2017.

"In speaking with the song writers and their attorney, we felt at committee that an ordinance would be more appropriate," said Councilman Scott Roybal, who let a resolution on Tuesday night's agenda die. "That ordinance has been sent to public services next week."

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday schedule, the Public Services Committee will meet at noon on Monday instead of Tuesday.
