Cheyenne Man Bound Over for Trial in Baby’s Death
A 26-year-old Cheyenne man charged with aggravated child abuse in the death of his girlfriend's baby has been bound over to Laramie County District Court.
Tyler Miller appeared before Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee this (Friday) morning.
Court documents say Miller and the baby's mother took the boy, who was nearly four months old at the time, to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center around 9:30 a.m. on April 3, 2016.
The two told emergency department personnel that the baby had been wheezing, coughing and acting fussy.
The baby was found to have subdural hematoma and was flown to Children's Hospital Colorado where he died a week later.
The baby's mother told police that the boy was fine when she put him to bed around 11:30 p.m. on April 2, but she noticed a big difference in his behavior when she got up to care for him around 5 a.m. on April 3.
She also told police that Miller was "crabby" when he came home from work shortly after 1 a.m. on April 3.
The prosecution maintains Miller, who was caring for the fussy baby from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. on April 3, injured the boy sometime during that time frame.
Miller is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on $10,000 cash bond. He could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
