Cheyenne Man Accused of Strangling, Head-Butting Girlfriend
A 28-year-old Cheyenne man is facing charges after allegedly strangling and head-butting his girlfriend, sending her to the hospital.
Deputies were called to Cody Allan Kotrc's home shortly before midnight on April 5 after his roommate called 911 to report the alleged assault.
According to an affidavit, Kotrc got into an argument with his girlfriend about a TV being broken by one of the children. He then allegedly grabbed her neck and head-butted her in the forehead, causing her to lose consciousness.
Kotrc's girlfriend was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for treatment, and was reportedly on the phone with the roommate when Kotrc came back to the house attempting to get in.
The roommate told deputies Kotrc kicked in the door and broke a TV. The damage was estimated at $1,400.
Kotrc was arrested and charged with strangulation of a household member-throat or neck, felony property destruction and domestic battery-first offense. If convicted, he could face up to 15-and-a-half years in prison.
Kotrc is currently being held in the Laramie County jail on a $7,500 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 18 at 10:30 a.m.
