Cheyenne Man Accused of Holding Woman Hostage, Assaulting Her
A 24-year-old Cheyenne man could face up to 16 years in prison after allegedly holding his ex-girlfriend hostage in her home for about three hours and threatening her with a knife.
Court documents allege Akean Harrington restrained the woman by throwing her to the floor, breaking her cell phone, punching her several times, locking the door and threatening her with a knife -- saying he would "slice her face" and kill her.
Harrington was arrested on Oct. 23 after his ex escaped her apartment and called police from a neighbor's home.
The woman told police she was letting Harrington stay with her because he had nowhere to sleep and he was trying to get a bus ticket to Las Vegas.
Harrington has been charged with aggravated assault and battery-threatens with weapon, felonious restraint and domestic battery-second offense.
Harrington is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
