First Cheyenne Frontier Days Pancake Breakfast Feeds Thousands

The first of three free Cheyenne Frontier Days pancake breakfasts on Monday morning fed thousands of hungry tourists and locals.

The breakfasts are an annual CFD staple dating back to 1952.

More Free Breakfasts Slated For Wednesday, Friday

Wednesday will be Cheyenne Day at Cheyenne Frontier Days, and that day typically draws the biggest crowds for the breakfasts, with the number of breakfasts served ranging over 15,000 some years.

As of 9:05 this morning, a total of 3,173 breakfasts had been served according to a sign posted at the breakfast [see above]. Temperatures that soared well into the 80s by shortly after 8 a.m. may have dampened some of the enthusiasm for standing in line for free flapjacks, but the folks who did brave the heat seemed to be having a good time.

It's hosted by the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club with help from the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

The pancake breakfast is one of the free events that are part of Cheyenne Frontier Days mornings, along with the Grand Parades that are held in downtown Cheyenne on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays of CFD week.
