Cheyenne Firefighters Host Junior Firefighter Challenge
Cheyenne Firefighters Local 279 will be at HollyFrontier Superday at Lion's Park Saturday, but not just in case of an emergency.
Local 279's Public Relations Committee will be hosting a junior firefighter challenge course for local kids. Public Relations chairman Derek Pollnow says the ten stations of the challenge will copy the job duties of real firefighters, only on a smaller and lighter scale.
Pollnow says the goals include getting kids physically active, giving people a better idea of what firefighters do, and letting both children and their parents meet local firefighters in a non-emergency situation.
This will be the third year the local firefighters have offered the Junior Firefighter Challenge at Superday, which is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.
